About this photograph
This black and white photograph was made in 1932 and comes from the NASA.
Navy Victor A Hermann in hay next to the USS AKRON. Note lack of security then. Also note dry grass and haycocks beneath airship.

We restored it from the original archival scan – cleaning dust and damage, balancing the tones and enlarging it for print – and set it in a museum-style archival layout with its title, date and source.
